Catholics in Galloway followed in the footsteps of Scotland’s first saint as they joined together for their annual diocesan pilgrimage to Whithorn and St Ninian’s Cave.

Catholics in Galloway followed in the footsteps of Scotland’s first saint as they joined together for their annual diocesan pilgrimage to Whithorn and St Ninian’s Cave.

Around 600 pilgrims from across Galloway Diocese made the journey to where St Ninian founded his church, spending time at the Whithorn experience exhibition, and celebrating Mass on the beach by St Ninian’s   cave, where the saint would retreat to pray.

The weather prevailed as Bishop William Nolan celebrated Mass on the beach, along with other members of clergy from across the dioceses of ­Galloway and Motherwell.

The bishop reminded the faithful about remaining joyful like Jesus and said that to share the Gospel message they need to do so in joyfulness.

The entire diocesan community rallied together in ­preparation for the day, with the music liturgy provided by ­parishioners of St Teresa’s in Dumfries, while the 91st ­Ayrshire Scouts group, based     at St Joseph’s in Kilmarnock, ­travelled a day ahead of the ­pilgrimage.

Around 20 scouts made safe pathways for pilgrims down through the glen and along the pebbled beach, as well as setting up the altar and canopy on the stones by the sea and acting as ushers for the hundreds who gathered there that day.

“It was an uplifting Mass,” Fr Stephen McGrattan, parish priest of St Joseph’s, Kilmarnock and St Paul’s, Hurlford, said. “It’s a real pilgrimage because it takes a lot of effort to get there. But there’s always a great ­camaraderie, and a sense of belonging to something bigger: the Diocese of Galloway and the Universal Church.”

Fake news means someone is taking things into their own hands to do more to tackle fake news.

So with research suggesting an increasing proportion of world adults are getting their news from social media, it’s likely that more and more of us are seeing – and believing – information that is not just inaccurate, but totally made up.

 

Filter bubbles means to show people the content they will find most meaningful, and people want accurate news.

The negative side of filter bubbles ‘s just one side of the truth behind it that has the right side and the truth can be many people do not know many things around.

 

Be careful about what you share. Don’t reveal sensitive personal information ie: home address, financial information, phone number.  The more you post the easier it is to have your identity stolen.

 

 

Unfortunately revealing some personal information could be dangerous because it can be hazardous to oneself. For example :

Someone left the information on the site of self likes the address, the date of birth or they put exactly where they live in and who they are ,

So some cases have happened that some people may come at the residence can threaten or destroy some of the important we can not expect.

 

 

• The things should not….
• don’t post personal details like your address.
• Do not comment on the negative side of  personal or social pages.
• Do not copy or steal others’ copyright.
• Do not object to any posts by others.
• Do not distinguish of skin color or race.

Instead things should be done………….

• Put people first You won’t agree with everything or everyone you encounter on social media networks, but treat each person with dignity and respect. …
• Prioritize safety. …
• Post carefully. …
• Protect yourself.
• Follow the rules
• Be nice.
